Is it just me or does it seem like our country is doing a massive u-turn and going back towards the bad old days? First of all we have a useless government and an even more useless bunch of incumbents and now our sport is going backwards as well.
We’re useless in the Rugby against anyone besides an Argentinian development team. We suck so hard in Soccer but that’s possibly due to the fact that the coach cannot speak English at all. This then brings us to our Olympians or rather the lack thereof. We’ve had a total drought of medals except for this week when we got a silver in the long jump. In typical South African manner we celebrated this victory like there was no tomorrow and in passing forgot that the rest of our team was totally useless. We also forgot that our team was voted the worst dressed team at the opening ceremony. I’m still debating which of these is the biggest insult.
What ticked me off about the whole Olympic saga is not that no one cared enough to develop a team that could succeed or that millions were wasted but that according to this article we should all celebrate this “achievement”. This statement by the way comes from parliament.
So my big issue on the matter is not that we didn’t do well these Olympics. Far from the situation being a major failure we actually did fairly well, it’s just that the other teams did a lot better. My problem is the celebration of mediocrity on the part of the South African team. Not only do we have no fashion sense, we have no one making sure heads roll and changes be made. Instead of action we have a pat on the back for the single medal we got. I guess this is South Africa as a whole, we ignore everything that is bad and focus on one tiny positive such as for example our pleasant climate.
If I were in charge heads would roll and athletes would be athletes rather than the spokespeople for Outsurance. Unfortunately I’m not in charge nor will I ever be (partly due to indifference) but lets take a moment here to celebrate the Silver Medal we won and at the same time not gloss over the other failures.

I dont even want to watch rugby, pieter de villiers has been put there to enforce the bee rule, fine and he has a good rugby background. i think he has been put there to be made a fool of. Coloured people where said to be too “white” by the govt, and this? SOCCER is the sport that SHOULD have flourished by now, why not ( and i am not racist, i love my country)call up white players, scout around a bit, and you will find them. SORRY BUT THE WORD “SPORT” should not be used in this country, they should name it “COURT” because that is usually the place where the truth is exposed. but in this case it has exposed the s.a govt. They are using “SPORT” as a boxing ring, displaying their “below the belt” fouls to a nation that wants to believe s.a has a great future. PUPPETRY HAS A WAY OF LOSING THE STRINGS THAT ARE SO IMPORTANT IN KEEPING IT FROM BECOMING LIFELESS, IF THE PUPPETMASTER TAKES HIS EYES OFF THE AUDIENCE. I.O.W – the govt must not forget who is watching the show, and who without (the nation)there would be no govt.South Africans, regardless of race, creed or colour are becoming tired of this show, because they feel the price they pay, is not worth the show they see. They do not want to see a show, they want to show the world that we are a nation not to be underestimated, because of the clowns behind the puppet master entertaining the lady of justice etc, the world beyond has seen us as a country with one govt, but too many politicians in the same party, the original building blocks, and fibre it was built upon, disappearing. sport has no team, sport has no round ball, sport is not entertaining like it was (mostly rugby and cricket) ITS TOTALITARIAN.
