The usual post Apple event roundup

Turns out the blurry pictures released on the Internet last night were correct. Apple has refreshed their laptop range to be more in line with their corporate design. The laptops look more like the iMac and the iPhone which in my opinion is very, very hot.

Basically Apple has created a new manufacturing procedure that moulds the entire shell of the laptop from a piece of Aluminium. Previously the Aluminium on their laptops was more of a coating rather than an entire shell.

Macbook Pro

First up, the Macbook Pro. Featuring a 15 or 17-inch display the Macbook features either a 2.4 or 2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo processor. I also has 2 or 4 gigs of ram and a 250gig or 320 gig hard drive respectively. The coolest feature is that the machine has two graphics card, an Nvidia 9400M and a 9600GT. The 9600 is an integrated chip which uses less power but provides better battery life. When you need the power, you can turn on the 9600GT and get more power. The trackpad is now made of glass and has no buttons on it, it’s just multi-touch enabled. Size wise, it’s a mere 0.95 inches thick and costs $1999 or $2499.

Apple Cinema Display

The Macbook Air has also been updated with a bigger hard drive, more ram and the glass trackpad. Apple has also released a new Cinema Display coming in at 24″ and featuring a 1920X1200 resolution. Add a built in i-Sight camera, a microphone and a USB hub you’ve got a winner.

Macbook

Finally the Macbook is being refreshed and is exactly the same as the Pro except it’s a 13″ screen and only features a 9400M graphics card. The $1599 model also features a backlit keyboard and a more powerful processor.

All I can say is wow, Apple has really outdone themselves.
