On Shaiky ground

Wow, so many amusing “Shaik” puns so little time. Good old financial advisor to the stars Schabir Shaik was released from prison this week on dubious medical grounds and while I’m not sure I agree on him being released I have a solution.

You see, the whole logic is that Shaik is terminally ill and is thus allowed a medical pardon to die in dignity. Now considering he went to prison without being sick (although he has spend about two thirds of his time in medical care) it seems unlikely (although not impossible) that Shaik is actually sick. Now every single political party (except conveniently the ANC) has spoken out about this but since his records have not been released we’ll never know if he is or isn’t sick. Lets be realistic, high blood pressure does not put you on your death bed in the same way something like cancer might. I do however have a solution to this issue.

The solution is simple and elegant: If Shaik is not dead and buried by the end of a certain time period (say one year) then send him right back to prison and take away any assets he may have accrued in his time out of jail.

While I think this is a particularly harsh statement on my part the reality is that he deserves no more priority than a normal prisoner. If Shaik really is sick then let him die in dignity but I see no reason why this cover up about his results are acceptable.

Good luck with life Schabir if you are really sick then you’ll need it!
