Let me be the first to say that I’m a big Woolworth fan. Their food is always good, fresh and tasty but that is assuming you can actually get their products.
You see, today I had to get Butter Chicken rather than Chicken Korma due to their not being Chicken Korma. Now there’s two issues here: the first is that this was at a large Woolworths that even has a clothes section, not some little garage store. The second issue to consider is that it’s Wednesday, hardly the end of the week or the weekend where there are less people to stock the shelves.
Here’s my issue with Butter Chicken: I can also add tomato sauce with a bit of spices to cubes of chicken. The reason there are nearly full shelves of Butter Chicken over Chicken Korma is because it is rubbish in comparison.
Woolworths knows exactly how many products they sell and I’m pretty sure they can use that to create trend graphs. How hard could it be to create a system where they create an alert to the main warehouse dispatches certain products when they reach a certain level? I’m not saying that Woolworths should spend millions to dispatch a load of Chicken Korma the moment it reaches a low level but how hard can it be to send out products when they are almost going to run out rather when they run out.
Sadly I’m not the only one with this problem and based on an informal poll this is fairly common.
To end a short and not so angry rant all I can say is Woolworths: buy/steal/build a decent ordering system because this is totally ridiculous.

Hey dude.. Awesome blog you have here. I have one problem with this post though. With every post your grammar and spelling seems to be almost never have some common mistake, in this post you use the word their (second line, second paragraph) instead of there.
Anyway, this is just a post to say that while most people read your blog, comments tend to be focused on the negative rather than the positive. You should keep up the awesome posts though.
Hey Shubby
Thanks for the comment, always nice to know people are reading.
1) I wrote this after working 11 hours after little sleep. It’s definitely not my best work.
2) Yes, I am a grumpy old man.
3) Thank you again for commenting, some new content up soon.
Well put lad, I think you are a real life adrain mole but in a good way that is! That’s the first Blogg write up that i have actually enjoyed!
Finally!!!!!
Go forth and write more!
Hi Saul
I must agree.
I live fifteen minutes from where I work (though about five only, as the crow flies) and believe it or not – at ANY point along the journey – I am in very close proximity to SIX different Woolworth’s outlets. Alright, three are ‘Food’ stores and one is at a garage, but that’s beside the point.
I, like you, (nay, even more so) am all about the Chicken Korma. It is properly fantastic and if human physiology allowed, it would be my staple diet – twice daily. This is how much I love it. I am in fact a fan of the Butter Chicken too, however dimly it compares…
But, awkwardly (in the context of your blog anyways) I find it rather easy to get my paws on. I sniff it out quickly and there’s no short supply. Yet, and here’s the crucial thing, other items I really enjoy like Butternut and Feta or Moroccan couscous, seedless red globes, mini cheeseburgers etc. are always a mind-numbing struggle to acquire here.
It is, as you say, obvious that these things (our Korma included) are good sellers. So what’s up with the dispairing bare-shelves situation?
I’ve no idea. Perhaps, in the case of passive hopes failing, we can light some proverbial fires up arses or something – what say you? Shall we rouse an intervention or draft a petition? Nice thought, I suppose…
I can’t imagine anything could be achieved that way anymore. Oh well, at the very least you have another sympathiser, in myself.
In any event, all my rambling could’ve been summed up far better; thus,
apologies for taking up so much space on your site. It’s time to get my own, I reckon. Until then, peace for all through North Indian cuisine…
Have an excellent New Year!
